Tenuta delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso is a classic Sicilian red wine from the Etna Rosso DOC appellation, produced on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy. The wine is crafted primarily from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes grown on decomposed volcanic soils rich in basalt and ash at high altitude, where significant diurnal temperature variation contributes to aromatic precision and structural tension.
The wine displays a translucent ruby color with garnet reflections. The nose is clean and layered, offering aromas of wild cherry, red currant, raspberry, and pomegranate alongside notes of dried rose, black tea, volcanic stone, and light smoke. On the palate it is medium-bodied with vibrant acidity and fine, persistent tannins supporting flavors of tart red fruit, blood orange, herbs, and graphite. The finish is long, savory, and mineral-driven with a saline tension characteristic of the volcanic terroir.
Tenuta delle Terre Nere is a leading producer on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, recognized for terroir-driven wines made from indigenous varieties. Under the direction of Marc de Grazia, the estate practices organic farming and minimal-intervention winemaking to preserve the freshness, minerality, and site expression unique to this volcanic growing region. The estate holds Certified Organic and Sustainable Viticulture certifications.
Etna Rosso pairs especially well with grilled lamb, mushroom dishes, roasted duck, and tomato-based Sicilian cuisine, where its bright acidity and fine tannins balance savory richness without overpowering the food.
