Seghesio Family Vineyards Venom is a 100% Sangiovese wine sourced from Rattlesnake Hill on the Seghesio Home Ranch estate in Alexander Valley, Sonoma County. The vineyard sits on a 40% slope with shallow topsoil and volcanic shale, conditions that tame the vigorous Sangiovese varietal into producing intensely flavored, small-berried grapes. The Sangiovese clone planted here dates to 1910 when Edoardo Seghesio established what is now America's oldest Sangiovese vineyard.

The wine opens with aromas of ripe red cherries and floral highlights, leading into a silky entry with flavors of orange peel and baking spices. Late-emerging tannins provide structure on the back palate, delivering a long, lingering finish. The current vintage has earned 92 points from Wine Enthusiast. The wine pairs well with mushroom and sausage risotto, duck confit, and chicken cacciatore. Alcohol: 14.5%.
