Maison Noir "In Sheep's Clothing" Pinot Noir is an Oregon red wine crafted by BIPOC-owned Maison Noir Wines. The label takes its name from a nod to the film Training Day: "to protect the sheep you gotta catch the wolf, and it takes a wolf to catch a wolf." Grapes are carefully selected from vineyard sites across Oregon, and the wine is produced with 50% stainless steel fermentation and 50% new oak fermentation, then rested in barrel for eight months before bottling.
The wine opens with inviting aromas of black cherry, ripe raspberry, and crushed cranberry, layered with hints of forest floor, fresh thyme, and a touch of cocoa powder. On the palate it is supple and silky, offering a harmonious balance between a juicy red fruit core and refreshing acidity. Subtle oak influence adds gentle nuances of clove and toasted almond, while soft tannins provide a smooth, lingering finish. Alcohol: 13.5% ABV.
