Marcel Lapierre Le Beaujolais, Burgundy, FR 750ML

Marcel Lapierre "Le Beaujolais" is a red wine from the Beaujolais appellation in Burgundy, France, produced by the legendary Domaine Marcel Lapierre. Made from 100% Gamay sourced from declassified Morgon fruit and granitic parcels just outside the cru boundaries, this wine is a testament to the natural wine movement that Marcel Lapierre helped pioneer.

True to the domaine's philosophy, "Le Beaujolais" is whole-cluster fermented with native yeasts, bottled unfiltered, and produced with very little added sulfur. Vines range from 50 to 80 years old across 2.5 hectares of sandy, decomposed granitic soils. The wine is aged for six months in tank before bottling.

While designed for earlier drinking than the domaine's celebrated Morgon, this is no simple table wine. It offers sweet perfumes of ripe cherries and turned earth, backed by vibrant freshness and silky, caressing tannins — a miniature Morgon that punches well above its category. It is an ideal introduction to the Lapierre style and to serious natural Beaujolais.

Marcel Lapierre began transforming his family domaine in 1973 and, guided by the winemaking philosopher Jules Chauvet, became a founding figure of the natural wine movement alongside fellow vignerons Guy Breton, Jean-Paul Thévenet, and Jean Foillard. The domaine continues under the family name and remains one of the most revered addresses in Beaujolais.
