Bottega Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is a prestigious Italian red wine from the Valpolicella zone of the Veneto region, sold at Costco as a case of 6 bottles (6 x 750ml). Produced by Bottega, one of Italy's most celebrated wine and spirits houses, this Amarone is crafted using the traditional appassimento method, in which hand-harvested grapes are dried for several months before pressing to concentrate sugars, flavors, and complexity.
The wine is made from indigenous Venetian varieties — primarily Corvina Veronese and Corvinone, complemented by Rondinella and Molinara — grown in the valley whose name, "val polis cellae," translates to "the valley of the many wine cellars." The nose offers intense notes of ripe marasca cherry and wild berries alongside an unmistakable aromaticity of warm spices. On the palate, it is full, round, and enveloping with pronounced notes of cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, and tobacco. Tannins and acidity are in perfect balance with the alcohol, delivering a long, warm, and persistent finish. DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) is Italy's highest appellation classification, guaranteeing strict standards of origin and production.
Bottega Amarone pairs exceptionally well with braised and roasted red meats, venison, wild game, and aged hard cheeses. It is best served at 18–20°C and benefits from decanting before service.
