Rocca delle Macìe Sasyr is a Toscana IGT red blend crafted at one of Tuscany's most celebrated family estates. Founded in 1973 by acclaimed Italian film producer Italo Zingarelli, Rocca delle Macìe spans 600 hectares across six estates in Tuscany and is today led by his son Sergio Zingarelli along with his wife Daniela and their children.
Sasyr — a name derived from its two grape varieties — is a blend of 60% Sangiovese and 40% Syrah sourced from estate vineyards in Tuscany. Carefully selected ripe grapes are harvested by hand, with the two varieties fermented separately at controlled temperatures to preserve color and freshness. Fifteen percent of the Sangiovese component is aged in French oak barriques for six months, lending structure and subtle complexity. The wine presents a brilliant ruby red color with intense aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry, and raspberry. On the palate it is succulent and supple, with a well-structured body and a silky smooth finish. It carries 13.5% alcohol by volume and is sealed with a cork closure. The wine is certified vegan.
Rocca delle Macìe Sasyr earned 90 points from James Suckling, who noted lifted and aromatic character with cherry, watermelon, and crushed stone, complemented by linear, tight tannins that are bright and fresh with a citrusy finish. Sold at Costco as a case of six 750ml bottles.
