Château d'Yquem Vintage 1976 Sauternes 750ML

Château d'Yquem is widely regarded as the world's greatest Sauternes and the only Premier Cru Supérieur of the Sauternes appellation in Bordeaux, France. The 1976 vintage is among the most celebrated of the estate's history, produced from Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes affected by Botrytis cinerea (noble rot), which concentrates the juice into an extraordinarily rich, sweet wine.

The 1976 harvest began on September 21 and concluded on October 13 — a relatively early harvest for the estate. The wine displays a deep, slightly burnished amber color with an expressive nose of dried pineapple, barley sugar, almond, marmalade, dried apricots, and smoke. On the palate, it offers gorgeous roundness underpinned by near-perfect acidity, with flavors of orange rind, mango, crème brûlée, and minerals, finishing with a tang of Seville orange marmalade.

This legendary Sauternes has earned scores of 96 from both Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator, 95 from Vinous, and continues to drink beautifully, with cellaring potential extending another 20–30 years from peak. It is presented in a standard 750ML Bordeaux-style bottle.
