Château L'Hospitalet Grand Vin Blanc is an organic white wine from Gérard Bertrand, produced at the iconic Château l'Hospitalet estate situated just a hundred meters from the Mediterranean Sea in the AOP La Clape appellation of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in southern France. The wine is a blend of Vermentino, Grenache Blanc, and Bourboulenc — traditional southern French white varietals grown on a diverse terroir of marl-limestone and red Mediterranean soils over compact chalk, giving the wine exceptional aromatic complexity and minerality.
The estate enjoys a semi-arid Mediterranean climate with long sunshine hours, coastal breezes that moderate temperature swings, and altitude that softens summer heat. The vines are cultivated using Terra Vitis sustainable and rational viticulture practices, with grapes harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. The juice undergoes pneumatic pressing followed by alcoholic fermentation in barrels with temperature control, then matures for 7 to 8 months in barrel with regular stirring to develop texture and depth.
This wine presents a golden, pale yellow robe with a powerful and fresh nose revealing aromas of citrus fruit, white-fleshed fruits such as pear, scents of garrigue and anise, and notes of roasted hazelnuts. The palate shows great finesse with beautiful minerality, iodized notes, touches of white pepper and flint, and a long, fresh finish with notes of acacia honey. Alcohol content is 14%. Best served at 11°C and pairs well with fried scallops, fish in sauce, or as an aperitif.
