Familia Torres Secret del Priorat Red, Priorat, Spain 750ML

Familia Torres Secret del Priorat is a red wine from the DOQ Priorat appellation in Catalonia, Spain, sold in a 750ML bottle. It is the only Familia Torres Priorat wine to blend five varietals sourced from throughout the region: Garnacha, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah.

The vineyards are situated on steep slopes with gradients up to 60%, with shallow soils developed over Carboniferous llicorella slate that drain swiftly and impart the unique mineral character typical of Priorat wines. After harvest, the wine is aged for 12 months in second-fill French oak barrels, achieving an alcohol content of 13.5%.

The wine pours a dark ruby with a luminous, inviting appearance. The nose is elegant and seductive, with fig jam and clove layered over a toasted backdrop and a delicate hint of orange peel. On the palate it is flavorful with fine acidity and structure that will round out beautifully with further aging in bottle. It earned 91 Points from James Suckling, with notes of crushed strawberries, Mediterranean herbs, balanced fruit, linear acidity, and polished fine-grained tannins.
