Casanova di Neri's Brunello di Montalcino "White Label" (Etichetta Bianca) is a benchmark Tuscan red wine crafted from 100% Sangiovese grapes grown in the renowned Montalcino appellation. Made by the Neri family estate—founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri and today managed by Giacomo Neri alongside his sons Giovanni and Gianlorenzo—this wine has been a cornerstone of the estate since its first vintage in 1978 and represents one of Italy's finest values in serious Brunello.
The estate's 75 hectares of vineyards are divided across six distinct growing areas surrounding Montalcino, including Pietradonice, Cetine, Cerretalto, Fiesoe, and Podernuovo, offering diverse terroirs that contribute complexity to the blend. The cellar is partially underground, utilizing gravity-flow winemaking and underground barrel aging rooms that maintain naturally constant humidity and temperature. Fermentation uses native yeasts and the wine undergoes extended maceration, followed by aging in oak barrels as required by Brunello DOCG regulations.
Across multiple acclaimed vintages, this wine consistently delivers an elegant profile of ripe cherry, plum, dried herbs, tobacco, and spice, with fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, structured finish. Critics have awarded it scores ranging from 91 to 97+ points from publications including Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, Vinous, and James Suckling. The wine is typically approachable upon release but rewards further cellaring, with drinking windows commonly cited through 2030–2042 depending on vintage. Serve at 16–17°C alongside Tuscan pasta, grilled meats, or aged cheeses.
