Shades of Summer is an elegant tropical Curcuma plant in a 3-quart container. This stately summer-blooming flower produces gorgeous spires of pink, purple, and white flowers throughout the summer season. Also known as Siam tulip or tulip ginger, Curcuma features intricate flowers with colorful bracts atop upright fleshy stalks with vivid green foliage.

Curcuma thrives in sun or partial shade with medium water needs, preferring moist well-drained soil rich in organic matter. In hot climates, partial shade is recommended. This heat-loving tropical plant works beautifully as a standalone accent or mixed with blue salvia, caladium, hibiscus, and other summer bloomers in garden beds, borders, or container gardens. The colorful flower spikes also make excellent cut flowers for arrangements.

Hardy in USDA zones 8-10 as a perennial. In cold-winter climates, the plant will not return each year if planted in the ground but can be stored indoors in a frost-free location over winter. Deer and rabbit resistant. Water regularly with about 1 inch of moisture per week during active growth. Fertilize during spring and summer with general-purpose fertilizer. Foliage naturally dies back in autumn.
