Dusted Valley is a Washington State winery founded by brothers-in-law Chad Johnson and Corey Braunel, based in the Walla Walla Valley and focused on sustainable farming practices and minimalist winemaking. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is a flagship red wine drawing fruit from estate and select Columbia Valley vineyards including Southwind Estate, Sconni Block Estate, Dionysus, and Four Feathers.
The wine is a blend of approximately 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot. Grapes are macerated for 14–27 days using both tank and bin fermentations, then aged on fine lees for 20 months in a combination of new French and Wisconsin oak before being racked once and bottled. The resulting wine is medium-bodied and expressive, with embracing tannins around a core of dried herb-accented black cherry and licorice flavors with a finessed finish. Alcohol is approximately 14.2% by volume.
Recent vintages have earned consistent critical acclaim, with scores of 90–93 points from Wine Enthusiast, James Suckling, Vinous, Decanter Magazine, and Owen Bargreen. The 2014 vintage was named one of the Year's Best U.S. Cabernets by Wine & Spirits.
