Wente Vineyards Sandstone Merlot is a supple and beautifully balanced California red wine sourced from the Central Coast appellation, presented in a standard 750ml bottle. The wine displays a deep garnet hue and opens with inviting aromas of ripe red cherry, plum, sweet caramel, and vanilla bean, with secondary notes of white pepper, cardamom, and graphite that develop as the wine breathes. On the palate, it delivers layers of red cherry, cedar, dark berries, and berry sorbet flavors, supported by velvety, supple tannins and a smooth, lingering finish with lingering acidity.

The Sandstone Merlot is fermented in stainless steel and then aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels, which contributes its characteristic creamy oak character and complexity. It earned a 92-point rating from Wine Enthusiast, noted for its clean, direct aromatics and joyous palate.
