Faustino V Red Reserva is a classic Tempranillo-based red wine from Bodegas Faustino, produced under the prestigious D.O.Ca. Rioja designation in Spain. The blend is composed primarily of Tempranillo with a small portion of Mazuelo, sourced from the Oyón vineyards in Rioja Alavesa at elevations around 450 meters. Each bottle is aged a minimum of 24 months in American oak barrels, then given additional time in bottle before release, resulting in the characteristic Rioja Reserva style.

The wine presents a clean, bright cherry-red color that deepens toward maroon. On the nose it is very intense, with well-integrated aromas of ripe dark fruits, sweet toasted oak, and vanilla. The palate is pleasant and approachable, showing flavors of Luxardo cherry, blackberry, and raspberry layered with clove, mint, and a touch of black pepper. Muscular tannins are balanced by well-integrated acidity, leading to a medium-to-long finish with elegant structure. Alcohol is 14% by volume.

Faustino V has earned recognition from major critics, including a 93-point score from James Suckling for the 2017 vintage and designation as Best Spanish Red Wine and sixth in the world by Wine Enthusiast in 2024. It pairs well with grilled or roasted meats, mushrooms, cured ham, oily fish such as tuna and cod, medium-aged cheeses, pasta, and rice dishes.
