The LEGO Icons McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna set is a detailed replica of the legendary 1988 Formula 1 racing car that won 15 of 16 races that season. This 693-piece building set is designed for adults ages 18 and up, developed in collaboration with McLaren and the SENNA brand.

The McLaren MP4/4 model features working steering, rod suspension using custom-designed wishbone suspension arms, an adjustable rear wing for tuning downforce, slick racing tires, side mirrors, a gearshift, and a detailed turbocharged V6 engine that can be revealed by removing the engine cover. The model measures over 5 inches (12 cm) high, 12.5 inches (32 cm) long, and 6.5 inches (17 cm) wide. The chassis includes an internal Brazilian flag design as a tribute to Ayrton Senna's homeland, positioned at the heart of the car beneath the engine.

The set includes an Ayrton Senna minifigure wearing his iconic bright yellow helmet with Brazilian flag colors and racing firesuit. The minifigure comes with a podium-style display stand and an information plaque featuring a quote and photo. Both the car and minifigure include separate display stands with information plaques containing interesting statistics about the MP4/4's dominance in the 1988 season. The car can be mounted on its display stand using central white Technic plates with pin connections.

Historical details have been carefully preserved, including Honda engine branding, Shell sponsor logos, McLaren branding, and TAG Heuer logo, all applied through printed elements and stickers. The set features several new molds including the slick racing tires with integrated wheels, wishbone suspension arms, and specialized wedge pieces for accurate bodywork shaping.
