Songold plums, also known as Sun Gold, are a golden-yellow variety of South African yellow plum (Prunus salicina) prized for their sweet, juicy flavor with a mild tangy finish. The fruits average 3 to 7 centimeters in diameter with smooth, taut, thin skin that may carry a faint powdery bloom. The flesh is firm, aqueous, and succulent, softening as the fruit fully ripens, and surrounds a central stone that should be discarded.

Grown in South Africa and harvested from November through March, Songold plums are hand-picked to protect their delicate skin and exported to international markets.
