Quivira Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley is a classic expression of Sonoma County's premier wine appellation, crafted by Quivira Vineyards, a family-owned winery founded in 1981 by Pete and Terri Kight in Healdsburg, California. The winery farms 63 certified organic acres at Wine Creek Ranch, plus an additional 26 acres at two nearby sites, using holistic and sustainable practices including beehives for natural pollination and on-site animals for fertilization.
This Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel displays a luminescent ruby color and opens with inviting aromas of red cherry, ripe raspberry, white pepper, peach, and rose petal. On the palate, flavors of red and blue fruit, blueberry, cherry, and fine herbs are supported by balanced acidity and a light, elegant touch of oak. The blend is predominantly Zinfandel complemented by small amounts of Petite Sirah, Grenache, and other varietals that add depth and complexity. Winemaker Hugh Chappelle ages the wine for 15 months in oak cooperage of varying sizes, using 10% new oak, before bottling at 14.5% alcohol by volume.
