Wild Atlantic Cod Fillet is a mild, lean white fish sold fresh-thawed at Costco's meat counter and priced by the pound. Wild-caught from the Atlantic Ocean, the fillets are previously frozen and then thawed for retail display. Atlantic cod is known for its firm, flaky texture and a slightly sweeter, more delicate flavor compared to Pacific cod, making it one of the most versatile white fish available.
This cod is exceptionally lean, delivering high-quality complete protein with virtually no fat per serving. Its firm flesh holds up well to pan-searing, baking, grilling, poaching, and air frying. It is also the classic choice for traditional fish and chips when coated in batter and deep-fried. The mild flavor pairs naturally with lemon, garlic, fresh herbs, butter sauces, and tomato-based preparations.
To prepare, pat the fillet dry and season with salt, pepper, or a seafood seasoning blend such as Old Bay. Cook over medium heat to an internal temperature of 145°F. For a quick weeknight dinner, place the seasoned fillet on a bed of marinara sauce in a covered skillet and heat over medium-low for approximately 6 minutes until cooked through. Because this product is previously frozen and thawed, it should be cooked within one to two days of purchase.
