A 100% single-vineyard Sangiovese from Napa Valley, California, produced under the Borreo label by Silverado Vineyards. The 2019 vintage pays tribute to Felix Borreo, an Italian immigrant and Napa grocer who built a stone and redwood winery on his vineyard near Napa Soda Springs in 1888, planting Sangiovese vines alongside fruit and olive orchards. The Borreo Ranch was later acquired by the Disney Miller family, founders of Silverado Vineyards, in 1992, though the original winery building was destroyed in the 2017 Napa wildfires.

The wine pours a light ruby color with an expressive nose of fresh red and blueberries, light oak, savory herbs, baking spices, and mocha. On the palate it is medium-bodied with medium acidity — dry and soft with notes of red fruit, allspice, herbs, dried mushrooms, and pleasant toastiness. The finish is lively with soft tannins that linger. Aged 16 months in French oak (16% new) and bottled at 14.7% ABV.

Pairs beautifully with roasted or grilled meats and Italian cuisine including pasta and tomato-based dishes. Rated 92 points by The Somm Journal and 90 points by Wine Enthusiast.
