Joseph Drouhin Puligny-Montrachet is an elegant white Burgundy wine produced by Maison Joseph Drouhin, one of Burgundy's most celebrated négociant-éleveurs, with a history dating back to 1880. Sourced from the prestigious Puligny-Montrachet appellation in the Côte de Beaune — an area made famous by the illustrious Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard — this wine is crafted entirely from Chardonnay grapes grown in limestone soils rich with ochre earth and small pebbles.
The wine offers great finesse with a pure, bright color and light glints of white gold. Aromas evoke trees in bloom and white-fleshed fruit such as white peaches, evolving with age toward almond and lightly grilled dried fruit. On the palate, there is a sensation of fresh silkiness, long and persistent in the aftertaste, with an exceptional wealth of both floral and fruity flavors, as described by winemaker Véronique Boss-Drouhin.
Grapes are harvested by hand in open-work crates and carefully sorted before slow pressing in a pneumatic press. The wine undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels — approximately 20% new oak — with aging lasting 14 to 16 months. Best served at 13°C (55°F), it is recommended for optimal consumption within 5 to 8 years of the vintage, with an aging potential of up to 10 years.
