Ruffino Greppone Mazzi Brunello di Montalcino is a lush and full-bodied Italian red wine from the prestigious Montalcino region in Tuscany. Crafted from 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes, known locally as Brunello, this wine represents the most profound and exquisite expression of the region, harmonizing robust body with unmatched finesse.
The wine offers intensely aromatic notes of ripe plums, cassis, and maraschino cherry with hints of incense and spicy black pepper. It evolves into a complex bouquet featuring eucalyptus, chocolate, and black pepper. On the palate, it showcases great structure supported by elegant tannins and well-balanced acidity, with red fruit, chocolate, and tobacco notes culminating in a long finish marked by pleasing nuances of sweet tobacco, balsamic tones, and plum.
Each bottle is crafted from the finest hand-picked grapes from the Greppone Mazzi Estate vineyards in Montalcino, where elevations range from 210 to 460 meters on diverse terrain from loamy clay to loamy silt enriched with gravel. After malolactic fermentation adds velvety texture, the wine undergoes extensive aging for 36 months in large oak casks, stainless steel tanks, and bottles. Pairs excellently with rack of lamb, seared duck breast, roasted meats and stews, game, or grilled portobello mushrooms. Serve cool at 18°C (64°F) for optimal taste.
