Francis Ford Coppola Director's Cut Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold Sonoma red sourced from multiple vineyard sites across Alexander Valley's diverse terrain, including volcanic hillside soils, rocky clay loam at the western edge, and alluvial gravel on the valley floor. Named after the filmmaker's practice of releasing a personal cut of a film, this wine reflects the winemaker's vision of varietal wines that express true appellation character.
The blend is composed of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5.6% Petite Verdot, 3.4% Merlot, and 3% other varieties. It is aged 100% in barrel for 24 months, with 50% new barrels using a combination of 40% French oak and 10% American oak. The wine presents aromas of cedar, red fruit, and tea leaves, with flavors of juicy black cherry, cinnamon, and marzipan, supported by firm tannins and a refined structure. Alcohol content is 14.5% by volume with a pH of 3.7 and titratable acidity of 0.60 g/100ml. Rated 90 points by Wine Enthusiast.
