Zespri RubyRed Kiwifruit is a premium red-fleshed kiwi variety with a naturally sweet, berry-like flavor. These smaller kiwis feature vibrant pink and red flesh with a dark crimson ring surrounding a yellow center, studded with tiny edible black seeds. The thin, velvety skin covered in fine red-brown hairs is completely edible and contains most of the fruit's fiber and nutrients.

Developed through a partnership between Zespri International and the New Zealand Institute for Plant & Food Research, RubyRed kiwis were bred for both exceptional flavor and resistance to bacterial vine disease. The fruit's stunning red and pink coloration comes from anthocyanins, natural plant pigments with powerful antioxidant properties. With a high sugar content ranging from 18 to 24 Brix and moderate acidity, these kiwis deliver a sweeter, less tangy taste compared to traditional green varieties.

Available as a limited-time Spring offering from April through May, RubyRed kiwis measure 5.7 to 6.2 centimeters in length and weigh between 62.3 to 87 grams. The entire fruit is edible and can be enjoyed fresh by scooping out the flesh, biting into it like an apple, or slicing into salads, smoothies, parfaits, and grain bowls. The flesh contains actinidin, a natural enzyme that serves as an effective meat tenderizer.

Nutrition per serving: High in vitamin C to strengthen immunity, plus vitamin E for cell protection, vitamin A for organ health, and vitamin K for wound healing. Rich in fiber for digestive health, potassium for fluid balance, and folate, magnesium, and calcium. The edible seeds provide omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E, while the skin offers additional fiber, vitamins C and E, and polyphenols.
