Costco's Wild Warm Water Lobster Tails are wild-caught Caribbean Spiny Lobster (Panulirus argus), sourced from the waters off Brazil, the Gulf of Mexico, and throughout the Caribbean. These tails are sold per pound, thawed from a previously frozen state, and typically come packaged with approximately five tails averaging around 4 ounces each.
Warm water lobster tails are known for their generous amount of tail meat. Unlike cold water lobsters, the warm water variety has minimal claw meat, making the tail the star of the show. The meat has a mild, slightly briny seafood flavor and a tender texture that holds up well to high-heat cooking methods.
These tails are incredibly versatile in the kitchen. They can be grilled over high heat for 8–12 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 140°F, broiled, steamed, or baked. For an elegant presentation, butterfly the tail before cooking. Serve with classic melted butter and lemon juice, or elevate with a garlic herb butter sauce.
