La Posta Pizzella Family Vineyard Malbec is a single-vineyard red wine from the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina, produced in collaboration with wine pioneer Laura Catena and winemaker Luis Reginato. The wine is named after the Pizzella family, one of La Posta's dedicated small-family growers whose individual passion and terroir are expressed in every bottle. "La Posta" translates to "the tavern," evoking the spirit of farmers gathering to discuss their soils, vines, and quest for superior flavor.
Sourced from the Altamira subzone in the La Consulta region of the Uco Valley, this Malbec is aged for approximately 10 months, with a portion resting in French oak barrels (some new, some second and third use) and the remainder in stainless steel to preserve freshness. The wine pours a deep red and purple color. On the nose, expect aromas of black cherry, dark fruit, dark chocolate, and baker's spice. The palate delivers dense, dark berry and plum flavors with hints of sandalwood, spice, and a touch of violets in the finish. It is full-bodied, well-structured, and smooth with suave tannins. Rated 93 points by James Suckling and certified sustainable by Bodegas de Argentina.
