Wild-caught Chilean Sea Bass, also known as Patagonian Toothfish, sold fresh from previously frozen, priced per pound at the Costco meat counter. This premium white fish is prized for its firm yet delicate flesh, melt-in-the-mouth texture, and rich, buttery flavor often compared to black cod or scallops. It is considered one of the finest eating fish available and is regularly featured at upscale restaurants.
Chilean Sea Bass is a versatile protein that performs beautifully with a variety of cooking methods. Pan-frying produces a golden, crispy crust while retaining moisture inside. It can also be poached for an especially tender result, baked, or grilled with garlic butter. Because it is previously frozen, it should be thawed slowly in the refrigerator overnight before cooking to preserve its texture and flavor. Once thawed, it should be cooked and consumed within a couple of days and should not be refrozen.
