Fresh traditional Hawaiian-style poke featuring ahi (yellowfin tuna) marinated with limu seaweed and sold by the pound from Costco's Service Deli. Limu is a Hawaiian term for native sea vegetables, most commonly ogo (Gracilaria) and limu kohu, which lend the dish a briny, oceanic character distinctive from other poke styles.
Classic limu poke is prepared with fresh-cut ahi tuna combined with limu seaweed, Hawaiian salt, inamona (roasted and mashed kukui nut), sesame seeds, sesame oil, and sliced green onions. The result is a savory, umami-rich preparation with a subtly nutty flavor and clean oceanic brightness. Unlike mayo-based or heavily seasoned poke varieties, the limu style highlights the natural quality of the fish.
Sold fresh from the service deli counter by the pound and best consumed within one to two days of purchase. Keep refrigerated at all times. Enjoy on its own as a traditional Hawaiian appetizer or snack, or serve over steamed white rice for a classic poke bowl presentation.
