Wild-caught lingcod fillet, previously frozen and sold by the pound from Costco's seafood counter. Lingcod (Ophiodon elongatus) is a North Pacific species prized for its mild, slightly sweet flavor and firm, flaky white flesh. Despite its name, lingcod is not a true cod but a member of the greenling family. The fillets are boneless and ready to cook, making them ideal for pan-searing, baking, grilling, or broiling.
Lingcod is a lean, high-protein fish with approximately 87 calories per 100g serving. It is low in fat and rich in Omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA), providing roughly twice as much Omega-3 as Atlantic cod calorie for calorie. It is also an excellent source of phosphorus, selenium, and potassium. Wild-caught lingcod from the Pacific coast is certified sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council.
