Pol Roger Brut Réserve is a non-vintage Champagne produced by one of the few remaining family-owned grande marque Champagne houses in Épernay, France. The cuvée is composed in equal parts of the three classic Champenois grape varieties — Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay — sourced from 30 different crus, with approximately 25–30% reserve wines blended in from prior harvests to maintain the house's consistent, elegant style.
Pale gold in color, the wine opens with delicately toasty aromas alongside ripe pear, orange zest, citrus, and subtle pastry notes. On the palate it is creamy, medium- to full-bodied, and beautifully balanced, with a vibrant core of fruit, fine persistent bubbles, and a dry, harmonious saline finish. The Pinot Noir is sourced primarily from premier crus of the Montagne de Reims, the Pinot Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne and Épernay area, and the Chardonnay from Épernay and the Côte des Blancs. The wine is accessible upon release yet structured enough to reward several years of cellaring.
Pol Roger has been the Champagne of choice for British statesman Sir Winston Churchill, who famously declared, "In victory I deserve it, and in defeat I need it." Annual production remains under 120,000 cases, and the wine is exported to over 30 countries. The Brut Réserve has earned scores of 92 from James Suckling and Wine Enthusiast, 91 from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, and 90 from both Wine Spectator and Jeb Dunnuck.
