Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-à-Vent is a prestigious Cru Beaujolais red wine from the Moulin-à-Vent appellation in Beaujolais, Burgundy, France. Produced by the legendary Maison Louis Jadot — founded in 1859 in Beaune — this wine is made from 100% Gamay grapes grown on the Chateau des Jacques estate, which Jadot acquired in 1996, making it the first major Burgundy house to own a significant Beaujolais property. The estate covers approximately 88 hectares across multiple Beaujolais crus.
Moulin-à-Vent is known as the "King of Beaujolais" for its fuller body and greater aging potential compared to other Beaujolais wines. Louis Jadot vinifies this wine in a distinctly Burgundian style: destemmed grapes, parcel-by-parcel fermentation with extended maceration, aging for approximately 10 months in French oak barrels (30% new), followed by 6 months in bottle before release. Alcohol content is approximately 13% ABV.
The wine opens with enticing aromas of dark fruit, blackberries, violets, candied peel, spice cake, and lavender. On the palate it delivers ripe black cherry, blackberry, and cassis with layers of vanilla, cedar, smoke, and dried violet. The structure is defined by succulent acidity, fine powdery tannins, and a persistent, generous finish. It has earned 91 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and 90 points from Wine Spectator. Ideal food pairings include lamb, coq au vin, roasted chicken with mushrooms, and duck dishes.
