Cheval des Andes is an exceptional Argentinian red blend born from a collaboration between Château Cheval Blanc — one of Bordeaux's most prestigious estates — and Terrazas de los Andes in the Mendoza region. Often called the "Grand Cru of the Andes," this wine represents a meeting of French winemaking tradition and the unique terroir of the high-altitude vineyards at the foot of the Andes mountain range.
The wine is a sophisticated blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. Malbec provides vibrant, exuberant fruit character rooted in Argentina's winemaking heritage — the very grape brought from Bordeaux to Argentina in the mid-19th century before phylloxera devastated it in France. Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and temperance, while Petit Verdot contributes depth and complexity. The result is a wine of elegance and power that is distinctly Argentine yet shaped by Bordeaux savoir-faire.
President Pierre Lurton describes it as "very Argentine — an Argentine which gallops through time, travelling with elegance." The estate also pursues a biodiversity project planting flowers and habitat plants to support birds and bees as natural predators of vineyard pests.
