Fresh Wild Copper River Sockeye Salmon fillet, sold by the pound. Sourced from Alaska's celebrated Copper River, this sockeye salmon — also known as red salmon — is widely regarded as among the finest salmon available. The Copper River's cold, swift, and demanding current compels these salmon to build exceptional fat reserves and dense, firm muscle, resulting in a distinctively rich flavor and vibrant deep red-orange flesh.
This wild-caught fillet is free from antibiotics, hormones, and artificial preservatives. It is sustainably harvested under strict quotas set by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game, which monitors stock levels each season to protect the fishery. The skin-on fillet is prized for its versatility and stands up beautifully to bold marinades, rubs, and sauces. It performs exceptionally well baked, pan-seared, broiled, or cedar-plank grilled over low heat.
Copper River Sockeye is exceptionally nutrient-dense. Its signature color comes from astaxanthin, a carotenoid antioxidant derived from its natural diet. The fish is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins B6, B12, and D, along with selenium, potassium, and taurine. Copper River season runs annually from late spring through summer, making this a highly sought-after seasonal offering.
