Fresh wild whole snapper sourced from Suriname, sold by the pound. This premium marine fish features firm, white, succulent flesh with a sweetly mild yet distinctive flavor and a hint of nuttiness. Red snapper is deep-bodied with scarlet red coloring, large mouth with sharp teeth, and red eyes. Adult snappers typically reach 24 inches in length and weigh 5-15 pounds.
This versatile fish can be prepared using multiple cooking methods including pan-frying, grilling, roasting, broiling, baking, steaming, or sautéing. Whole snapper is particularly popular for traditional preparations where the fish is cooked head-on, cleaned, and often stuffed or seasoned with herbs and spices. When purchasing whole fish, scaling, gutting, and filleting are typically done by the fishmonger.
