Fernet-Branca is a classic Italian amaro and bitter liqueur produced by the Fratelli Branca distillery in Milan, Italy. Originally crafted in 1845 by Bernardino Branca, it remains one of the world's most iconic digestifs, renowned for its complex, intensely bitter flavor profile. Costco sells this in a case format (6 x 750ML bottles).
The liqueur is made from a secret blend of 27 herbs, roots, spices, and botanicals sourced from four continents, including aloe ferox, rhubarb, gentian, galangal (galingale), cinnamon, myrrh, bitter orange peel, iris root, saffron, and chamomile. The recipe has remained unchanged since its creation. Fernet-Branca is bottled at 39% ABV (78 proof) and is deep brown in color with a distinctly herbal, menthol-forward aroma.
Traditionally served neat as an after-dinner digestif, Fernet-Branca is also a popular mixer in cocktails such as the Toronto and the Hanky Panky. It pairs exceptionally well with ginger ale or cola, and is a staple in bartending culture worldwide, particularly in Argentina where it is commonly mixed with Coca-Cola.
