Marietta Cellars Old Vine Red is a proprietary California red wine blend crafted to replicate the historic field blends of old vineyards in Sonoma and Mendocino counties. First produced in 1982, it is one of the longest-running and best-known red blends in California, anchored predominantly by Zinfandel and complemented by Syrah, Petite Sirah, Merlot, Grenache, and Barbera in varying proportions by lot release.

The wine is aged 60% in neutral oak barrels and 40% in stainless steel, a method designed to preserve pure fruit character while building a supple mouthfeel and solid structure. It presents a deep ruby color with aromas of red and black plum, raspberry, and spice. The palate is medium-bodied, rounded, and bright, with a softly spicy finish. Bottled at 13.5% ABV, with approximately 25,000 cases produced per lot release.

Old Vine Red pairs well with a wide range of casual and everyday fare including pizza, pasta, burgers, roasted vegetables, mushrooms, and tacos. It has received consistent critical recognition, earning 90 points from Jeb Dunnuck and broad acclaim as an exceptional value in California red blends.
