Feudi di San Gregorio Greco di Tufo DOCG is an acclaimed Italian white wine produced from 100% Greco grapes grown in the volcanic soils of Tufo, near Avellino in the Campania region. The winery was established in 1986 by the Capaldo Family in the Irpinia hills near Mount Vesuvius, and has become one of southern Italy's most respected producers.
This wine presents a bright straw-yellow color with greenish reflections. On the nose it offers intense aromas of ripe peach, melon, and almond, complemented by delicate scents of aromatic herbs and a pronounced minerality imparted by the tuffaceous volcanic soils. On the palate it is lively and well-structured, with balanced acidity that integrates harmoniously with the mineral character, leading to a long and pleasantly bitter finish typical of the Greco variety. The wine is fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures and aged briefly in steel before bottling, preserving its freshness and varietal expression.
At 13% ABV, it is best served chilled at 50-54°F (10-12°C) and pairs beautifully with fish dishes, shellfish, light appetizers, and fresh cheeses. Professional ratings include 91 points from James Suckling, 90 from Wine Spectator, and 90 from Vinous. Best enjoyed within 3-5 years of the vintage.
