Fort Ross Vineyard Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast is an estate-grown, cool-climate red wine produced at one of California's most celebrated vineyard sites. The winery is situated along the rugged Sonoma Coast in the Fort Ross–Seaview appellation, a region renowned for producing slow-ripening Pinot Noir with exceptional freshness, complexity, and a distinctive sense of place.
Winemaker Jeff Pisoni takes a minimalist approach, working closely with owners Lester and Linda Schwartz to hand-pick grapes during cool morning hours into small trays. Grapes are hand-sorted, destemmed, cold-soaked for several days, and fermented in open-top fermenters with manual punch-downs using only native yeast. The wine is then aged in a combination of new and neutral French oak barrels to preserve the vineyard's true character. Each of the winery's 30-plus vineyard blocks is studied, harvested, and fermented individually, allowing for precise expression of the estate terroir.
This 750ML bottle showcases the essence of Fort Ross Vineyard's cool-climate farming philosophy, delivering a Pinot Noir with vibrant acidity, elegant fruit, and the mineral-driven character for which the Sonoma Coast is celebrated.
