J. Lohr Flume Crossing Sauvignon Blanc from Monterey County is a crisp, well-balanced white wine with lively acidity. The wine spotlights aromas of honeysuckle, lime, sweet herbs, and fig, complemented on the palate by bright flavors of grapefruit, kiwi, key lime, and passionfruit.
The grapes are grown in the well-drained, sandy, cobblestone soils of the Arroyo Seco region, deposited by the Arroyo Seco River over centuries. These rugged soils produce fruit with varietal intensity, minerality, and exceptional weight. The wine is aged 70% in stainless steel barrel and tank, with 30% aged in neutral French oak barrels and puncheons, plus new and used acacia barrels, which impart rich texture and a long finish. The 2023 vintage was characterized by an unusually cool spring and summer, which enhanced the grapefruit, lime, and sweet herb flavors while retaining fresh acidity.
This wine has earned accolades including 90 Points Best Value from Wine Spectator (January 2025) and 91 Points Best Buy from Wine Enthusiast (April 2024). It pairs beautifully as an aperitif with goat cheese, oysters, or sardines, and is a delightful accompaniment to sushi, sashimi, or pesto and chimichurri-sauced dishes. The wine is crafted from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes using minimal, sustainable farming and winemaking practices to express pure varietal character influenced by its terroir.
