Allegrini Palazzo della Torre is a celebrated Veronese IGT red wine from the Allegrini estate in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. Crafted from a blend of Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes, it stands as a signature wine of the Allegrini portfolio and one of the wines that has made the winery internationally renowned. This is sold as a case of 12 bottles, each 750ml.
The wine is produced using a distinctive two-stage appassimento technique. Seventy percent of the harvest is fermented in September using standard red wine fermentation, while the remaining 30% undergoes a gentle drying process before being vinified separately in December. The two finished wines are then blended and aged for a minimum of 15 months in French oak barriques, yielding a wine of exceptional depth, complexity, and structure with 14.07% alcohol.
On the nose, Palazzo della Torre offers spicy and woody notes harmoniously intertwined with the sweetness of ripe plum and cherry, hints of forest floor, and balsamic nuances for freshness. The palate is velvety with soft tannins, layers of vanilla, black pepper, cloves, and cinnamon, with elegant finishes of chocolate, coffee, and licorice wrapped in refined undertones of iris and violet. It is medium-bodied with a long and persistent finish. The wine pairs beautifully with risottos, pasta, baked lasagna, grilled meats and roasts, cured meats, and medium-matured cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano.
Palazzo della Torre has earned extraordinary critical acclaim, achieving 90+ scores from Wine Enthusiast (8 times), Wine Spectator (9 times including 6 Top 100 selections), Robert Parker (12 times), and James Suckling (12 times).
