These are own-root roses grown from cuttings taken from mature "mother" plants — no grafting or budding — making them more resilient, disease-resistant, and longer-lived than conventional rose bushes.

Own-root roses are hardier than grafted varieties because their crown has not been weakened by a vulnerable bud union. If frozen to the ground, own-root roses come back true to their original variety, and they develop into fuller, shapelier plants over time by sending up new shoots from their own root system.
