Black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) are native to the Indo-Pacific region and are identified by distinctive black tiger-like bands across their tails and bodies. They can reach up to 13 inches in length and are known for their firm texture and sweet, lobster-like flavor.
These farm-raised shrimp come from aquaculture operations primarily in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, India, and other Southeast Asian countries. They are previously frozen, raw, and ready for cooking. Black tiger shrimp are prized for their large size and premium quality, commanding higher prices than smaller shrimp varieties. They are versatile and can be grilled, baked, boiled, or steamed.
