Wild U-10 White Shrimp are among the largest shrimp available, with "U-10" indicating fewer than 10 shrimp per pound โ classifying them as colossal-sized. These are wild-caught white shrimp that have been flash-frozen after harvest and thawed at the store, sold fresh by the pound from Costco's seafood counter.
Their extraordinary size makes them ideal for grilling, baking, butterflying and stuffing, or serving as an impressive centerpiece in shrimp cocktail platters and seafood spreads. White shrimp are prized for their mild, sweet flavor and firm, meaty texture that holds up beautifully to high-heat cooking methods. Each individual shrimp is substantial enough to stand on its own as an appetizer.
To defrost, place shrimp in a sealed bag in the refrigerator overnight, or submerge in cold (not warm) water for 20 to 30 minutes. Pat dry before seasoning so flavors adhere properly and the shrimp sear rather than steam. Due to their large size, plan for approximately 6 to 8 minutes of cooking time until the flesh turns pink and opaque throughout.
