Wild-caught brown king crab legs and claws, previously frozen and fully cooked at the dock. Each pound contains 14-17 count pieces of tender, sweet white crab meat with a delicate flavor profile similar to lobster. The crab features thick, spiny shells that require a crab mallet or cracker to open.
These king crab legs are pre-steamed immediately after harvest to preserve freshness, as crab spoils very quickly and FDA recommends it only be purchased live or pre-cooked. The meat is ready to eat cold or can be reheated by steaming, grilling, or baking. Popular preparation methods include heating on a grill at high temperature for 10-15 minutes while basting with melted butter, or steaming until warmed through.
King crab is prized for its rich, sweet flavor and tender texture. The meat is extremely rich and salty, best served with melted butter and lemon wedges to cut through the richness. Due to limited fishing seasons and sustainability concerns, brown king crab availability varies throughout the year.
