Loropetalum (Loropetalum chinense), commonly known as Chinese Fringe Flower, is a fast-growing evergreen flowering shrub sold in a 3-gallon container. It is prized for its striking combination of deep burgundy to plum-colored foliage and vivid fuchsia-pink fringe-like flowers that bloom abundantly in early to mid-spring and sporadically throughout the year.

At maturity this shrub typically reaches 5–6 feet tall and 6–8 feet wide, with an arching, rounded, bushy growth habit. It thrives in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7a–10b, making it well-suited for warm-climate gardens across the American South, Pacific Coast, and Southwest. It grows best in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist but well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.0–6.5). Once established, it is exceptionally drought tolerant and requires little to no supplemental irrigation.

Loropetalum is highly versatile in the landscape—ideal as an accent plant, in mass plantings, as a colorful hedge or privacy screen, or as a bold foundation planting. It responds well to pruning for shaping but requires very low maintenance overall. The plant is resistant to deer, drought, heat, humidity, disease, and common insects. It can also be grown in large containers with a rim diameter of 16 inches or more.
