DeLille Doyenne Red Blend Columbia Valley 750ML

DeLille Cellars Doyenne is a Rhône-inspired red blend from Washington State's Columbia Valley AVA, crafted as a tribute to the ancient winemaking traditions of Aix-en-Provence. Originally created by Executive Winemaker Chris Upchurch for his own wedding, Doyenne — meaning "wise" or "senior" in French — celebrates the classic marriage of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache. The wine is sourced from some of the Columbia Valley's most acclaimed vineyards, including StoneTree, Discovery, Red Willow, Quintessence, Ciel du Cheval, James, and Quintessence.

The blend is composed of 62% Syrah, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Grenache. It is stainless steel fermented with 12–14 days on skins, then barrel aged 20 months in French oak (25% new), followed by 8 months of bottle aging prior to release. The wine opens with fragrant aromas of blackberry compote, crème de cassis, green peppercorn, and a hint of capsicum. On the palate it is robust with chewy, tightly wound tannins and significant weight, offering flavors of Herbes de Provence, roasted coffee, and cocoa on the finish. It is suitable for drinking now or aging 10 or more years.

The 2022 vintage earned 93 points from both the International Wine Report and Wine Spectator, 92+ from Vinous, and 92 from James Suckling. It pairs exceptionally well with roasted and braised meats such as lamb, seared duck breast, stews, and game.
