Native to Southeast Asia—including Laos, Vietnam, and the Yunnan province of China—this species brings authentic tropical character to both landscape and indoor settings. Outdoors, the Pygmy Date Palm grows slowly to approximately 10–12 feet tall with a spread of 6–8 feet. The slender trunk, 3–6 inches in diameter, is textured with distinctive peg-like leaf bases.
