Foley Estate Pinot Noir is a premium red wine from the renowned Sta. Rita Hills AVA in California's Central Coast. This elegant Pinot Noir is crafted from estate-grown grapes harvested from the Rancho Santa Rosa vineyard, a 460-acre estate with 230 acres under vine at elevations up to 1,000 feet. The vineyard's limestone-based soils are divided into 59 distinct microblocks, each farmed and vinified separately as part of Foley's unique micro-farming program.
The wine opens with generous aromas of raspberry, Bing cherry, root beer, and leather, complemented by notes of spiced black cherry cola, dark plum, and black pepper. On the palate, flavors of cherry cola, strawberry marmalade, and forest floor are supported by angular tannins and vibrant acidity. Oak aging for approximately 10 months in French oak adds layers of toasted vanilla, bourbon, and subtle spice.
Grapes are hand-picked during cool morning hours at optimal tannin ripeness between 24.5-27.0 Brix, hand-sorted, gently de-stemmed without crushing, cold-soaked in open-top fermenters, and manually punched down daily during fermentation. This meticulous winemaking approach results in a refined Pinot Noir with great concentration and structure. The wine pairs beautifully with pulled pork sliders, coq au vin, grilled poultry, seared tuna, or peppered steak. Recent vintages have received 92-point ratings from both Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast.
