The Baby Blue Spruce (Picea pungens 'Baby Blue') is a dwarf Colorado Blue Spruce cultivar prized for its brilliant silvery-blue foliage and naturally symmetrical, upright pyramidal form. Sold in a #5 nursery container (3.9-gallon / 14.8-liter), this specimen arrives ready for planting in the landscape or garden bed.
Hardy in USDA Zones 3–8, Baby Blue Spruce thrives in full sun to partial shade and withstands extremely cold temperatures down to -40°F, making it one of the toughest dwarf conifers available. It grows at a slow rate, eventually reaching 15–25 feet tall and up to 15 feet wide at maturity, with dense, stiff needles that hold their striking silver-blue color year-round.
No pruning is needed to maintain the tree's natural conical shape. Baby Blue Spruce works beautifully as a standalone specimen plant, in mixed borders, at home corners, or as a formal evergreen hedge. Once established, it is largely drought tolerant and highly resistant to wind and snow damage.
