Cambria Julia's Vineyard Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard red wine from the Santa Maria Valley AVA within California's Central Coast. Produced by Cambria Estate Winery, part of Jackson Family Wines, this bottling is named after Julia Jackson, daughter of founders Jesse Jackson and Barbara Banke. The vineyard and this flagship Pinot Noir have been hallmarks of the Cambria estate since 1988. The wine is Certified California Sustainable.
This Pinot Noir opens with aromas of sour cherry, red cherry, red plum, strawberry, sweet dried cherry, spice, new leather, mint, and sweet pipe tobacco. On the palate it delivers flavors of baked cherries, red currants, dried cranberries, pomegranate, and cran-raspberry, with nuances of lavender and rose petal. Aged in 22% new French oak, the wine shows moderate tannins and tangy acidity with a long, lingering finish. It is designed to drink well now and can be cellared for 3 to 5 years.
The 2022 vintage earned 94 points from James Suckling, 92 points and an Editors' Choice designation from Wine Enthusiast, 91 points from Vinous, and 90 points from Jeb Dunnuck. Each bottle contains 13.2% alcohol by volume and is sold individually in a standard 750ml format, with cases of 12.
