This fast-growing, columnar evergreen is one of the most popular hedge plants in Southern California, prized for creating dense, lush privacy screens and living walls. The glossy dark green foliage provides year-round coverage and a refined, formal appearance.

At planting, the 15-gallon size typically stands 5 to 6 feet tall and approximately 1.5 feet wide. Under ideal conditions, Ficus Nitida grows 2 to 3 feet per year and can eventually reach 30 to 40 feet, though most homeowners maintain their hedges at 10 to 15 feet. For a full privacy hedge, plant 2 to 3 feet apart in a row. This species thrives in full sun to partial shade, is drought tolerant once established, and adapts well to USDA Hardiness Zones 8 through 11.
